Shirley Baker 80’s Faces – new online exhibition

Art gallery Crane Kalman Brighton presents a new exhibition at its Viewing Room Online. With the title of Shirley Baker 80’s Faces, this show shines a light on lesser-known street photography by Shirley Baker.

During the 1980s, Shirley’s husband Tony, a doctor, took up a position which required him to be in London for much of the time. The couple found a flat in Camden. The area proved to be fruitful for Shirley – Camden was already a popular, vibrant destination and particularly at weekends both locals and tourists would flock to Camden Market and its surrounding streets. Of particular interest to Shirley were the young people, in particular the punks who would gather, showing off their hair and outfits

Shirley Baker 80’s Faces exhibition is available online at the Crane Kalman Brighton Viewing Room from 14th March – 20th April 2025.
